Mixtape Monday... its got that GLOW!

Mixtape Monday!!!

Well it seems to be a growing trend in music where a couple drop here and there between Monday and Wednesday and Then 35 mixtapes and albums drop on Thursday through Saturday!!  I still appreciate it nonetheless I just wish it were more spread out! In light of the tragic events that occurred in Connecticut  and an altercation that I had over the a Facebook group I am convinced the world is filled with sleeper cells of "characters". First off ,how do you make good on a threat via the internet (something I experienced)  if you have no means to actually be in the physical presence of the person you're threatening??? Second even if the threat seems impossible its unfortunate that you have to take it serious cause you never know what someone will do. After being told "I will be divided by zero" (whatever the fuck that means) and aggressively Facebook poked I decided that I will just try not to be so antagonistic. I'm pretty sure that will be a failed effort though!! I put links to most of this weeks albums simply because it was easier and alot of yall don't give a fuck anyway!

The Drop:

@Kingboyent
DK

DK, hails from the southern Cali area know as the I.E and he has been rapping since the age of 10. With every track that he creates it is obvious that he conveys an intrinsic sense of passion. Having had influence from cousin and West coast pioneer MC Frosty DK was   exposed at an early age to rhyming. With a spiritual upbringing DK often expresses his faith in God using music as a conduit for the deliverance through hardships. As a well rounded individual his music provides a relative semblance with a flare of authenticity. DK does it all from producing his own beats to rendering graphic design for his own works and for the projects of others. In each medium DK is nothing short of raw. Get ready world, Kingboy is out here to get it!

Enjoy this weeks selections!
( or get divided by zero! )

T.I.- Troube Man, Heavy Is The Head
So I guess you can call me a an ATL and Westcoast enthusiast. The first time I heard Im serious. I knew this dude was gonna be large. There are few artist that deliver the level of quality with such consistency. This one was pretty nice to me though. It somehow maintains the classic southern hip hop feel but with an improved and evolved twist. I wasnt sure what to expect with everyone tryin to go pop these days. I really enjoyed this one it had me ready ride a round the city with the windows down with music at maximum volume!

Young Jeezy- Its Tha World
Somebody explain to me why Jeezy goes so ape shit on all his fuckin mixtapes?  I mean its just unfair how he gets on the track and raps about the same shit ( ironically having a track called "All the same" )  and its still undeniably FYRE! This mixtape superior knock shit. It completely bangs all the way. I really can go all day on nice this mixtape is but I'll just let you judge for yourself click HERE to stream the mixtape on DatPiff.

Nipsey Hussle- The Finish Line
If you don't know about Nipsey by now you need to get Familiar  Dude is dope wit extras! This isn't an official release from Nipsey Hussle but its a decent compilation from his previous mixtape for y'all to get reacquainted before his next actual mixtape TM3: Victory Lap which is expected to drop on 12/21/12. DON'T SLEEP that shit gon bang and it will of course be on this here blog! If you want to hear this one just click HERE to stream it on Dat Piff.

The-Dream-1977-Terius Nash

This guys music always has me hitting play with a lil trepidation. His shit is so hit or miss to me. Some  tracks are straight sex in the club r&b bangers and then some will have you looking confused as hell like wtf IS this??? This one has a better consistency with a good R&B feel. This time its a lil more R&B centered and its a mellow tone throughout. There weren't any track that really stood out to me but it was still a good album regardless.

Marsha Ambrosius- Hors D'Oeuvres
Oh how I loves me some Marsha! Its an EP so of course it is short but it's still fantastic! I love the  soulful elegance that she delivers on each track its makes you wanna sit back and chill with a glass of wine. The British bred songstress is prepping for the release of her sophomore album, Friends & Lovers, due out early 2013. Four are your nether rock dwellers she is one part of the Neo-Soul duo Floetry If you remember their work you'll love this. I feel Like I should have to say that but then again you never know who may be reading this. If you'd like to hear the mixtape click HERE to stream it on DatPiff.

MIxtape Monday Sukas!!... SHO-NUFF!!!!

Yup almost as if it were Christmas.... but Not. With the Holidays right around the corner here are a few good ones that you should check out for yourself or even a loved one. Nothing says Merry Xma- HanuKwanzaa-kah like a good ol hip hop or r&b Itunes gift card. (side note, do people still buy cds?? If so, then get that too) As previously stated, I am not the God of all things music. Theses are just a few suggestions that God of ALL things in Heaven and Earth equipped me with the insight to check out and share with you.  So in a way I'm kinda posting on his (or her)  behalf and if you don't check these out you're kinda pissing away your blessing from God... I'm just sayin...

This week Selections:

Big Boi- Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors
@BigBoi

In my eyes Any aspect of the group Outkast can do no wrong musically. They are aurally infallible! Like this dude coulda farted on the track and I'd still be posting this shit on the blog! Dont like it?? FUCK YOU! Outkast is THEE MUTHAPHUKIN SHIT! DO YOU HEAR ME!? Now with that said I will now proceed with my biased critique. Admittedly, I did expect better but I still fux with it cause its a clear example of Big Boi's diverse flow. I honestly believe this dude can spit over absolutely anything. I think its better than Sir Luscious and it has a lil bit of everything thing on here. A few tracks u can chill to and a few tracks you can ride to. Great balance in my opinion.

The Game - Jesus Piece

He wrong for that album cover but his shit was better than I expected. For some strange reason I always expect his albums to be a let down and then they always turn out to be bangers! This one is no exception.  Some may discredit the quality of the album due to all the features moreover the specific features he chose. It was like he sat down and made a list of everyone who is popular and or hot right now and said, "yes, he too shall be on the album". But you can't be too mad at the album if the shit is full of knock in the whip worthy tracks. This shit go.

Neako- These Are The Times
@NEAKO

Some of you may remember this kat from a track he spit with Wiz Khalifa when he was with Taylor Gang...... No? OK well  He still is a credible source of decent hip hop. This is a fair balance of mild  backpacker under ground and not too popcorn rap shit. This work actually reminds me of the shit I used to like from Wiz before he got large. And no, Im not one of those people that starts hatin on a dude soon as they get large I merely prefer quality and consisteny. Back to this dude, This piece is a clear example that its real shit out there if you look for it.

Dizzy Wright- The First Agreement
@DizzyWright
I gotta be honest I saw this and was like, "well its may not be great but at least I tried. But after the first two tracks I was sold. To my knowledge I'm not related to this Las Vegas kat but I like his style. He on some striving man with flaws type of flow. Its real lyrics with just enough flare for the "swag junkies"  On every song it can be easily perceived as coming from a real place. The whole mixtape got that kick back wit a 40oz and play some dominoes kinda tempo.

Chrisette Michele- Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation

I simply lover her voice. The tone and the soothing vibe she creates on every song is just refreshing. There aren't really a lot of songs on the track but its still cool. Its not your everyday jam out kinda music but in the proper setting this is a pretty decent piece to chill to. It has a half R&B half uptempo indie feel to it.  That "Pray Me Well" is NICE tho!!

Bruno Mars- Unorthodox Jukebox

Aight So I know what you're thinkin..... Bruno Mars??? Really tho???? Well,.... yea maybe you're right but it all depends on your style of music. I guess I needed a filler and its got that uptempo weeknd kinda vibe to it. If you cant get wit pop music in any shape form or fashion you shouldnt even waste your time. But it aint THAT. Parents, if your youngin ask for this on Christmas you might wanna cop it at Walmart.com or the clean version. Its got a few cocaine outburst here and there. One track he singing about how a girl is his treasure and next minute he singin about how he wants to gorilla fuck her. ( I shit you not,  Track 3 its called "Gorilla") Now on the other hand if you enjoy pop music you will be jamin the fuk out to this in your metallic aqua Prius.

MIXTAPE MONDAY!!!

The drop

Sunny Phoenix was introduced to the world of music the moment his mother found out she was pregnant with him. She placed headphones on each side of her belly and made sure that Miles, Coltrane, Temptations and anything with a beat molded his mind. Growing up in 1 of the nation’s deadliest cities of San Bernardino, it was expected for Sunny to create a gangster sound and image like all his counterparts. Yet Sunny had different ambitions in mind. Being the grandson of a Bishop and the son of a well known drug dealer, Sunny thought to show music to the masses from multiple points of view. Starting off in the music business under the wing of Robert "Storm" Daniels, Sunny learned the correct way of song form and melodic flow. Along with Storm and songstress Mar'laina Kemp, they formed the writing team consisting of 2 dudes and a chick. Sunny has worked with such artists and producers as Robin Thicke, Tamyra Gray, Soshy, Bradley Spalter, Midi Mafia, Megahertz, Jeff Blue and Steve the Scottsman. Sunny took in all the knowledge and wisdom each individual would bestow upon him. Now his Hip Hop persona of “Mr. I’m So Cocky” is at best an understatement when listening to his flow, swagg or as Sunny would say "My DNA". Storm was quoted as saying "Sunny is like Tupac, Jay-z and Kanye rolled into 1 and still has his own sound". Nominated for the 2008 Inland Empire Best Artist of the Year Award and constantly tearing stages down with his sock it to you flow, Sunny Phoenix is more than just an Entertainer...He is The Entertainers’ Entertainer

MIXTAPE MONDAY!! oH,.. EVERYBODY got time fa dat!!

So this week there weren't alot of drops for R&B or soul... (to my knowledge) but that dont mean it wasnt no heat this week! I gather that you all were well stuffed and enjoyed your holiday. Further still that you are probably thoroughly pissed that you had to got back to work today. Its all good, I gotchu fam! Music to kick back to plus a not spot Im callin "The Drop" Every week from here on out I'm throwin out sumthin from kats I have the good blessing of knowing personally or have met on my journey through this playlist called life. Maybe even a few submissions from others.  Fux wit it ya'll! Have a great week!

The Drop
DaGreatBambino
The homie hooked me up wit this one. Just a lil banger for yall to ride out to! Fux with it and check out his soundcloud page whenever you can!  Here at "https://soundcloud.com/dagreatbambino"

This weeks selections!

Jet Life- Jet World Order 2

Ahhhh the Jets these kats have been around for a good while. They deliver a laid back feel of hip hop. I honestly cant think of a track that got me extra hype that they put out but that really doesnt matter when it good vibes all through out the catalog. It is mostly Skydiver and Trademark on this one but of course Curren$y comes through and blesses a couple tracks. I really like the track above on the best on the whole album but its also one of the shortest songs on the album. Regardless, if you burn this is a good album to put one in the air to and sit back and chill

Joe Budden- A Loose Quarter

This one was on some hardcore r&b shit. The tempo was essentially something that you'd hear from a dope ass R&B album but it got Joe spittin on it. I Still dig it though cause Budden lyrically is nice and he the artist Emanny that is basically singing every hook is pretty good too. If you have a house divided where one of you rarely listens to hip hop and the other rarely listens r&b this one will be a decent compromise. Ok, mostly in the favor of the hip hop head but as an R&B fan you wont hate it.

Fabolous- Soul Tape 2

I Love how he used the Exhibit A beat on the first track. Obviously not as great the original but still he snapped on it. I've never been a die hard Fabo fan but I do love his lyricism. Every time I hear him I'm like, "ha,.. I see you Fab"  The whole mixtape is laid back. This is really my whole type of vibe so I felt this one far reals.
Styles P- The Worlds most Hardest MC

This one is a joint I slept on last week. I fux wit it so much I had to throw it up for this week! It really on that good 'ol classic hip hop shit. That good shit you dont get that often these days. If I could say there was a draw back the only thing be that there are no Jada-kiss features. Its kinda the same vibe you get with a Big Boi missing 3000 feel. You accept it as still fyre but its always great to hear them together. Still this is perfect for a  chillin out  on good afternoon with that Black Ops 2.

BamaLoveSoul.com Presents: Phonte- Never at A Loss For Words Pt.1

So for this jawn you're actually in luck for 2 reasons... First you can hear the WHOLE thing right here on the  link above. Secondly, you can also download it on the link above because its free. The one draw back is that its really just one long ass song but if you fux with Phnote that shouldnt even matter to yo extra picky ass! If you've never messed wit dude it about time you start. The link above is a great into to his great singing ability and spectacular flow. Any way its all that dopeness and a bag cookies. (its sweeter than some damn chips).

Alicia Keys- Girl On Fire

I almost passed on this one till I heard the song above. Fire we Make.. the shit is just stoopid dope to me. After a couple more spins this one was aight to me.It wasn't a terrible album but it did seem to lack a certain flare sensation that I normally get from her albums. With a title like Girl on Fire I thought it would be just that, "fire". But with the actual track Girl On Fire being played in the background of  every 3rd commercial since the Olympics  I was extra through with that.track. Then with adding (she whose name shall never be mentioned on this blog) the song caught a skip with the strength of 5 bus driver punches. Other than that the album was ...meh.....

Till next week!!

Mixtape Monday!! Its Muzik stuffing & H.A.M.berry SaucE!

They say the value of  your net worth is determined by your network... well that may certainly apply for music enthusiast. I for one, have the great fortune of being connected with some kats that are heavily immersed in the subterranean culture of hip hop.  (thats deep underground for those of you that cant read between the lines) Shout out to my Spartans readin this jawn! It most certainly has its benefits and equivocally has its draw backs. the benefits are clear so I will speak primarily toward the drawbacks. For the most part I feel as though my sense of hip hop immersion is thorough enough for understanding of the culture but I have a mistress. Technically 2, R&B and Neo-Soul ( or maybe they're just the same bi-polar chick, Idunno) .  I'm sorry if I cant smash my girl to a fresh joint from Jay Electronica or Homeboy Sandman. But its a genre of music that simply appeals to me. I often feel that my interest in hip hop is jaded for the pure fact that i am 50 percent in another realm of music. Not that I feel its a bad thing. I only bring it to attention to explain how I can mention Sean P and Raheem Devaughn in the same post lol. I love ALL music generally, but there are obvious sounds and artist that appeal to me. Don't hate me cause my taste is diversely beautiful.

This weeks selections!

Murs & 9th Wonder- The Final Adventure

I saw the tweet from 9th and I simply had to get this jawn just for the sole purpose of have this in my colletion (at the very least)! I really enjoy just about all the shit both these dudes put out especially together. This collab was pretty cool . For  the hip hop heads its a nice body of work &  for the newbies that some how dont  know them.... meh. this might not be a good starter for ya. I would recommend "sweet lord"  as a first exposure piece . Its still a straight mixtape though sumthin to chill out to.

Action Bronson & Alchemist- Rare Chandeliers

Man ... I'm fairly new to this kats work but I fux with Blue Chips and picked this one up. But DAMN! His style of flow gives me a very Wu like vibe. Its reminiscent and fresh at the same time. I dig it cause lyrically he has visual flare which isn't that common these days. The way he spits give way for a mental drift while he verbal paints a pic for you and its raw! REAL gudda work and Im keep an eye out for this kat. If you the type that like ya rap music like a giant pina colada  all extra'd out wit a fukin umbrella on the side (i.e. Cash Out) then this  probably ain't for you. but if u fux wit tha jack daniels straight out the bottle kinda hip-hop dont sleep on this jawn.
9th Wonder & Buckshot- The Solution

Yes, ANOTHER 9th mixtape I told u the first time! I fux wit this dudes work! Apparently this kat works hard and he got wit Buckshot to spit that work ethic on a track. Its not a full banger but it is a decent mixtape . It could have been better if it had more track and I just felt that this wasn't 9ths "better" pieces. Buckshot kept me entertained and amused on this one so I decided to throw it up.

Ras Kass- The Barmageddon Mixtape

I been a fan of Rass Kass since my early days of high school Nature of a Threat was my shit. this is mixtape is a introduction to the album the Barmageddon. If you arent falmiar with Rass Kass he is a very skilled lyricist with insane delivery and superubly agressive flow. The beats on this dope and Kass just brings em out. in my opinion the mixtape did its job cause Im really lookin forward to the Album.

BoB- Fuck Em We Ball

Aight , so this one is more for my folks that like and or can tolerate that mainstream music (like myself). The title is accurate if you think he is whack or u don't like him. This is a quality type of mixtape that can be riddin music or burnin at a party with friends. This shit is pure bang and with its very upbeat tone its extremely bump worthy. I wouldn't brag on the lyricals but B.o.B. is straight to me so I personally feel he held it down on the entire mixtape. If you don't get the urge to nod ya head to at least ONE track then get the fuk off my blog your music sense is dead and I cant help you.

Audio Push- Inland Empire

THESE DUDES IS FROM THE I.E. AND SO AM I.... NUFF SAID.....

.
.
.
Ok for the sake of this blogs integrity I'll give a more descriptive explanation... (My Spartans have already drawn the flaming arrows back and ready to fire) First off yea I said dues "is" (bitch don't kill my grammar vibe). Secondly, I fux with these kats for the fact that they put together a very good style of modern day "fun" music. Back at the dawn of hip hop it wasn't all about how ill a niggas rhymes were or how raw he (or she) could spit it was all just in the spirit of having fun. This carries the tradition of that but its just a modern day version of that essence. In addition its not TOO much candy and they still spit waaaay better than half the kats in the mainstream. Hit Boy recently signed these kats and the mixtape is hosted by DJ Cannon (basically my favorite mixtape DJ) .

Keyshia Cole- Woman to Woman

Her albums have always been hit or miss for me. Sometimes good sometimes not so good with a couple tracks that you cant stop listening to. this one somehow is right in between. I certainly don't hate it. I could see myself crusin round town with my girl or quickly throwin this in to avoid exposing my child to the foul mouthed artistry I typically listen to. Other than that, if you fux with her you'll like it. If you don't, this probably wont convince you to join team Keyshia. One thing I will say about this is that it maintains the soulful essence that IS R&B. Its alot these days that's being passed off as such ( please reference the last album for further explanation)

The Floacist Presents: Floetry Re:Birth

So I have no idea why but I was anxiously seeking this out. I thought her last kut was aight,.....this is pretty much is the same. It doesn't suck, but it ain't really awesome. I'm throwin it up  cause its a cool album to chill around the crib and just relax to. That and if by some Great miracle of the Neo-Soul gods they get back together you can say you have everything from them. She teamed up with Julie Dexter to keep the "flo" going but its really not the same ( in a bad way). Again, it doesnt suck just ... well its like tryna get it in with your signficant other while you're sick. You want to but you're just not up for it....

Kay Cola- Seven

I just got this one on a impulse of curiosity.. (not it wasn't cause of the album cover) I thought  her music might be pretty decent and I was diggin the track titles. Its decent if the sole intent was to establish a foundation of exposure. Her voice is cool but I feel she lacks uniqueness. First thing I thought when I heard her was Jhene Aiko. She's a Grammy nominated song writer so I certainly hope her writing abilities is what help stand above the rest. I suppose time will tell. 6Tnine definitely resonated well with me and certainly will get some heavy rotation!

Rihanna- Unapologetic

Let me be explicitly clear I DO NOT FUCK WITH THIS CHICK AT ALL. But  I do recognize that she is a popular artist so I though just for the fuck of it I would check out her album. I though I would dislike it and have the freedom of not having to post anything about it ( I dont do negative criticism on music, thats called hating ladies and gents) but as far as her style of music goes this isn't bad. Or rather, if you can tolerate her music then you may like this album. I for one have disdain for her work mostly because she seems to be passed off as an R&B artist (which she's not) and then is praised for her talent (which she lacks) but I suppose she works hard and that I  am NOT mad at. This album is all pop and extra uptempo Like pop R&B and dubstep had a baby uptempo. It just annoys me because I know somewhere there is a young lady with a voice that could just touch you to the depths of your soul and THIS chick is shining extra hard like this is the best the world hast to offer. Still, if you like her music you'll love this.....

........and that foks is all he wrote for this week!
LIKE, COMMENT, TWEET & SHARE! THANKS!!!!

Put that on my MixtapeMonday ya BISH....

Kendrick Lamar- Good Kid M.A.A.D. City

So this Kendrick has been out for a good minute and its STILL in heavy rotation for me. For those of you still sleepin you need to, In the words of Mc Eiht (who is also featured on the album) "WAKE YO PUNK ASS UP!" Beats combined with lyrics, and a story line this album is like a rebirth of hip hop. An absolute MUST HAVE in every hip hop collection to date.

Saigon- The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2:Bread and Circuses

The title could have been changed to "longest tittle every created under the great sun of the most high god" But its actually a decent album not too many fillers decent beats and siagon spits so the lyrically its on point also.

Apollo Brown & Guilty Simpson- Dice Game

I've been a fan of  Apollo Browns work for sometime now and his music definitely have a distinctive flavor that you dont hear often enough. But yet and still this one was meh to me. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't blown away either. Which may not be a good thing coming form  someone is a fan of both artist. but Ah well ....

Sean Price- Mic Tyson

If you dont know about Sean Price first of all, slap yourself, secondly I suppose it is my duty to acclimate you with his verbal ferocity. This dude spits with that lyrical aggression that very few artist have either been unable to maintain or unable to match. The beats have to boom pap type of flavor but its perfect for his type of flow. If you a hip hop head or at least tryna be you need this one.

Meek Mill- Dreams and Nightmares

There's probably a few of yall thinkin how you gon put Meek after that dude? Some of you may even be thinkin why even put Meek AT ALL. But despite his loud mouth antics this album goes pretty hard its actually in my top 5 of the year.(Ay its my blog asshole fuck off!) The beats are just crazy for album to ride around to and just over all bang till you're sick of it.

E-40 and Too $hort: History Mob Music and Function Music

THIS SHIT POUND! As a Cali native I had to check this one out off GP. But I was actually very satisfied in the albums work. It was exactly what I expected, but still a little better than what I expected

Raheem DeVaughn Present: Heemy Taught Me 2

Now its time to get all "panty dropper" on ya. I'm a huge fan of Raheem DeVaughn so this one was a must have for me. I already had the majority of the tracks on this mixtape but went ahead and got it for, ... well mixtape purposes of course! Its a good collection of some of his classic slow cuts as well as a few new ones.

Ne-Yo- R.E.D.

This one was aight to me. It was REALLY pop and not so much R&B but it was still cool. I dug it. If you just lookin for a little sumthin new to groove to here's your piece.

Bonus: How many saw this vid and thought .... yea.... I could definitley go for some "lazy love"......

First post (again)

Whats up yall,
Im bringin it back! Mixtape Monday Blog. Just as things were with the first one (before it was shut down) the same terms apply. I don't claim to be the all knowing God of "all things music" but I got a lil knowledge about good shit. If you disagree on some of my post you're entitled to do so, but I really dont give an eighth of a fuk sooooo.... with that being said, lets get that party started!!  Feel free to send me any recommendations also I love new music!
