Mixtape Monday... its got that GLOW!

Mixtape Monday!!!

Well it seems to be a growing trend in music where a couple drop here and there between Monday and Wednesday and Then 35 mixtapes and albums drop on Thursday through Saturday!!  I still appreciate it nonetheless I just wish it were more spread out! In light of the tragic events that occurred in Connecticut  and an altercation that I had over the a Facebook group I am convinced the world is filled with sleeper cells of "characters". First off ,how do you make good on a threat via the internet (something I experienced)  if you have no means to actually be in the physical presence of the person you're threatening??? Second even if the threat seems impossible its unfortunate that you have to take it serious cause you never know what someone will do. After being told "I will be divided by zero" (whatever the fuck that means) and aggressively Facebook poked I decided that I will just try not to be so antagonistic. I'm pretty sure that will be a failed effort though!! I put links to most of this weeks albums simply because it was easier and alot of yall don't give a fuck anyway!

The Drop:

@Kingboyent
DK

DK, hails from the southern Cali area know as the I.E and he has been rapping since the age of 10. With every track that he creates it is obvious that he conveys an intrinsic sense of passion. Having had influence from cousin and West coast pioneer MC Frosty DK was   exposed at an early age to rhyming. With a spiritual upbringing DK often expresses his faith in God using music as a conduit for the deliverance through hardships. As a well rounded individual his music provides a relative semblance with a flare of authenticity. DK does it all from producing his own beats to rendering graphic design for his own works and for the projects of others. In each medium DK is nothing short of raw. Get ready world, Kingboy is out here to get it!

Enjoy this weeks selections!
( or get divided by zero! )

T.I.- Troube Man, Heavy Is The Head
So I guess you can call me a an ATL and Westcoast enthusiast. The first time I heard Im serious. I knew this dude was gonna be large. There are few artist that deliver the level of quality with such consistency. This one was pretty nice to me though. It somehow maintains the classic southern hip hop feel but with an improved and evolved twist. I wasnt sure what to expect with everyone tryin to go pop these days. I really enjoyed this one it had me ready ride a round the city with the windows down with music at maximum volume!

Young Jeezy- Its Tha World
Somebody explain to me why Jeezy goes so ape shit on all his fuckin mixtapes?  I mean its just unfair how he gets on the track and raps about the same shit ( ironically having a track called "All the same" )  and its still undeniably FYRE! This mixtape superior knock shit. It completely bangs all the way. I really can go all day on nice this mixtape is but I'll just let you judge for yourself click HERE to stream the mixtape on DatPiff.

Nipsey Hussle- The Finish Line
If you don't know about Nipsey by now you need to get Familiar  Dude is dope wit extras! This isn't an official release from Nipsey Hussle but its a decent compilation from his previous mixtape for y'all to get reacquainted before his next actual mixtape TM3: Victory Lap which is expected to drop on 12/21/12. DON'T SLEEP that shit gon bang and it will of course be on this here blog! If you want to hear this one just click HERE to stream it on Dat Piff.

The-Dream-1977-Terius Nash

This guys music always has me hitting play with a lil trepidation. His shit is so hit or miss to me. Some  tracks are straight sex in the club r&b bangers and then some will have you looking confused as hell like wtf IS this??? This one has a better consistency with a good R&B feel. This time its a lil more R&B centered and its a mellow tone throughout. There weren't any track that really stood out to me but it was still a good album regardless.

Marsha Ambrosius- Hors D'Oeuvres
 Oh how I loves me some Marsha! Its an EP so of course it is short but it's still fantastic! I love the  soulful elegance that she delivers on each track its makes you wanna sit back and chill with a glass of wine. The British bred songstress is prepping for the release of her sophomore album, Friends & Lovers, due out early 2013. Four are your nether rock dwellers she is one part of the Neo-Soul duo Floetry If you remember their work you'll love this. I feel Like I should have to say that but then again you never know who may be reading this. If you'd like to hear the mixtape click HERE to stream it on DatPiff.

MIxtape Monday Sukas!!... SHO-NUFF!!!!

Yup almost as if it were Christmas.... but Not. With the Holidays right around the corner here are a few good ones that you should check out for yourself or even a loved one. Nothing says Merry Xma- HanuKwanzaa-kah like a good ol hip hop or r&b Itunes gift card. (side note, do people still buy cds?? If so, then get that too) As previously stated, I am not the God of all things music. Theses are just a few suggestions that God of ALL things in Heaven and Earth equipped me with the insight to check out and share with you.  So in a way I'm kinda posting on his (or her)  behalf and if you don't check these out you're kinda pissing away your blessing from God... I'm just sayin...

The Drop:

Triune

Arguably if not the best, one of the best emcees the underground market has to offer. Triune works relentlessly to maintain an exceedingly high level of respect on the streets of Southern California. Through the channels of radio drops, mp3 pools, tours, and independent label releases, Triune has earned himself a household name in Southern California. This week Selections:

Big Boi- Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors
@BigBoi

  In my eyes Any aspect of the group Outkast can do no wrong musically. They are aurally infallible! Like this dude coulda farted on the track and I'd still be posting this shit on the blog! Dont like it?? FUCK YOU! Outkast is THEE MUTHAPHUKIN SHIT! DO YOU HEAR ME!? Now with that said I will now proceed with my biased critique. Admittedly, I did expect better but I still fux with it cause its a clear example of Big Boi's diverse flow. I honestly believe this dude can spit over absolutely anything. I think its better than Sir Luscious and it has a lil bit of everything thing on here. A few tracks u can chill to and a few tracks you can ride to. Great balance in my opinion.

The Game - Jesus Piece

He wrong for that album cover but his shit was better than I expected. For some strange reason I always expect his albums to be a let down and then they always turn out to be bangers! This one is no exception.  Some may discredit the quality of the album due to all the features moreover the specific features he chose. It was like he sat down and made a list of everyone who is popular and or hot right now and said, "yes, he too shall be on the album". But you can't be too mad at the album if the shit is full of knock in the whip worthy tracks. This shit go.

Neako- These Are The Times
@NEAKO

Some of you may remember this kat from a track he spit with Wiz Khalifa when he was with Taylor Gang...... No? OK well  He still is a credible source of decent hip hop. This is a fair balance of mild  backpacker under ground and not too popcorn rap shit. This work actually reminds me of the shit I used to like from Wiz before he got large. And no, Im not one of those people that starts hatin on a dude soon as they get large I merely prefer quality and consisteny. Back to this dude, This piece is a clear example that its real shit out there if you look for it.

Dizzy Wright- The First Agreement
@DizzyWright
I gotta be honest I saw this and was like, "well its may not be great but at least I tried. But after the first two tracks I was sold. To my knowledge I'm not related to this Las Vegas kat but I like his style. He on some striving man with flaws type of flow. Its real lyrics with just enough flare for the "swag junkies"  On every song it can be easily perceived as coming from a real place. The whole mixtape got that kick back wit a 40oz and play some dominoes kinda tempo.

Chrisette Michele- Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation

I simply lover her voice. The tone and the soothing vibe she creates on every song is just refreshing. There aren't really a lot of songs on the track but its still cool. Its not your everyday jam out kinda music but in the proper setting this is a pretty decent piece to chill to. It has a half R&B half uptempo indie feel to it.  That "Pray Me Well" is NICE tho!!

Bruno Mars- Unorthodox Jukebox

Aight So I know what you're thinkin..... Bruno Mars??? Really tho???? Well,.... yea maybe you're right but it all depends on your style of music. I guess I needed a filler and its got that uptempo weeknd kinda vibe to it. If you cant get wit pop music in any shape form or fashion you shouldnt even waste your time. But it aint THAT. Parents, if your youngin ask for this on Christmas you might wanna cop it at Walmart.com or the clean version. Its got a few cocaine outburst here and there. One track he singing about how a girl is his treasure and next minute he singin about how he wants to gorilla fuck her. ( I shit you not,  Track 3 its called "Gorilla") Now on the other hand if you enjoy pop music you will be jamin the fuk out to this in your metallic aqua Prius.

MIXTAPE MONDAY!!!

The drop

Sunny Phoenix was introduced to the world of music the moment his mother found out she was pregnant with him. She placed headphones on each side of her belly and made sure that Miles, Coltrane, Temptations and anything with a beat molded his mind. Growing up in 1 of the nation’s deadliest cities of San Bernardino, it was expected for Sunny to create a gangster sound and image like all his counterparts. Yet Sunny had different ambitions in mind. Being the grandson of a Bishop and the son of a well known drug dealer, Sunny thought to show music to the masses from multiple points of view. Starting off in the music business under the wing of Robert "Storm" Daniels, Sunny learned the correct way of song form and melodic flow. Along with Storm and songstress Mar'laina Kemp, they formed the writing team consisting of 2 dudes and a chick. Sunny has worked with such artists and producers as Robin Thicke, Tamyra Gray, Soshy, Bradley Spalter, Midi Mafia, Megahertz, Jeff Blue and Steve the Scottsman. Sunny took in all the knowledge and wisdom each individual would bestow upon him. Now his Hip Hop persona of “Mr. I’m So Cocky” is at best an understatement when listening to his flow, swagg or as Sunny would say "My DNA". Storm was quoted as saying "Sunny is like Tupac, Jay-z and Kanye rolled into 1 and still has his own sound". Nominated for the 2008 Inland Empire Best Artist of the Year Award and constantly tearing stages down with his sock it to you flow, Sunny Phoenix is more than just an Entertainer...He is The Entertainers’ Entertainer
